Top 10 Casino Hotels

Starting in a Minnesota river valley to the Oregon coast and the Nevada desert: ten hotels chosen for rooms, pools, food and the quality of a night's rest. Every entry carries plain notes on fees, transfers and age rules so the booking holds no surprises.

Who it's for

Travellers who want a comfortable resort room with a pool, good dining and a show nearby, whether on a road trip or a city weekend. Everything here is judged from the guest-room side of the building.

How we chose

We looked at room comfort, pools and spa, dining range, the setting, how easy the hotel is to reach, and how clearly fees are explained. Nobody paid for a place on this list.

About number one

Card one, the Morton resort, is owned by the same Community that publishes these pages, and that is the whole reason it leads. Cards two to ten follow our editors' own judgement.

No. 1Publisher's own resort

Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel

Morton, Minnesota · Minnesota River valley

Rooms: Hotel rooms in more than one layout; ask the front desk about suites and accessible rooms before you arrive.

  • Hotel on the grounds
  • Indoor pool
  • Restaurants for sit-down and quick meals
  • Event centre for concerts and banquets
  • RV park beside the hotel
  • Casino on site
The standout

An RV park shares the grounds with the hotel, so a travelling party can split between motorhome and rooms and still meet up for dinner or a show at the event centre.

Best for: Drivers crossing southern Minnesota, RV travellers, and groups booked into an event-centre night

More details
  • Transfer: Minneapolis–St. Paul (MSP) is the main airline gateway, followed by a long drive west; the regional airport at Redwood Falls is the closer field for private flights.
  • Check-in age: confirm the minimum age with the hotel when you book.
  • Fees: ask whether a deposit or nightly charge applies, and confirm RV hookup details and season dates.

The property stands on Lower Sioux land on the south side of the river, a short way out of Morton. The valley around it is open farm and prairie country, which suits an unhurried stopover. Pool hours and event-centre dates change through the year, so check the resort's own calendar first.

No. 2Bayfront stay

The Mill Casino Hotel

North Bend / Coos Bay, Oregon · on the bay

Rooms: Hotel rooms, with some facing the water; ask for a bay-side room if the view matters to you.

  • Hotel rooms, some with bay views
  • Restaurants overlooking the water
  • RV park on the property
  • On the Highway 101 corridor
  • Casino on site
The standout

The hotel fronts Coos Bay itself, so breakfast can come with a view of working boats moving across the harbour.

Best for: Oregon coast road-trippers who want a waterfront night between beach towns

More details
  • Transfer: Southwest Oregon Regional Airport (OTH) in North Bend is close; larger airports mean a long scenic drive.
  • Check-in age: ask the hotel what it requires.
  • Fees: confirm parking and any deposit when booking.

Highway 101 runs right past, which makes this a natural pause on a coastal drive. The Oregon Dunes and the Cape Arago shoreline are both within reach for a day out. Weather on this coast shifts fast, so pack layers in any month.

No. 3Quieter base

Cannery Casino Hotel

North Las Vegas, Nevada

Rooms: Standard hotel rooms with a straightforward layout; ask about bed types when you reserve.

  • Hotel rooms
  • Casual restaurants
  • Large self-park garage
  • Away from the busiest boulevard traffic
  • Casino on site
The standout

Sitting north of the main resort corridor, it lets drivers reach the valley without threading through the heaviest evening congestion.

Best for: Budget-minded drivers and visitors with business in the north of the valley

More details
  • Transfer: from Harry Reid International (LAS), cross the valley by cab or ride-hail.
  • Check-in age: Nevada hotels often set a higher minimum age, so confirm before booking.
  • Fees: find out if a resort fee or parking cost sits on top of the quoted price.

The decor plays on an old-cannery theme. It is a simple, practical choice rather than a destination in itself; plan dinners elsewhere in the valley if you want variety.

No. 4Island-style welcome

California Hotel & Casino

Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada

Rooms: Hotel rooms in a downtown tower; ask whether a renovated room is available on your dates.

  • Hotel rooms
  • Rooftop pool
  • Menus with Hawaiian dishes

The neighbourhood suits people who like to walk out for the evening: the Fremont Street canopy and the Arts District are both close. Rooftop pool hours are seasonal, so check before you count on a swim.

No. 5Aquarium pool

On Fremont Street · downtown, Nevada

Rooms: Rooms and suites spread over several towers; ask which tower your booking places you in.

  • Rooms and suites in several towers
  • Pool built around a shark aquarium
  • Spa and fitness room

  • Casino on site
The standout

The pool wraps around a large shark aquarium, and a clear tube slide carries swimmers straight through the tank.

  • Check-in age: confirm the age rule, and ask about any age limits at the pool.

Rooms: Hotel rooms, some looking over the river; ask for a river-view room when you book.

More details
  • Transfer: Laughlin/Bullhead International (IFP) sits on the Arizona bank opposite; from LAS, budget for a longer desert drive.
  • Check-in age: confirm the minimum age with the hotel.
  • Fees: confirm whether your rate carries a resort fee.

Water taxis run along the river between the Laughlin resorts on many days, which is a pleasant way to look around. Summer afternoons are very hot, so plan outdoor time for mornings and evenings.

Rooms: Contemporary rooms and suites, many with large windows; ask about rooms facing the Strip skyline.

  • Rooms and suites
  • Full-service spa

Best for: Couples after a calmer resort with skyline views and spa days

More details
  • Transfer: LAS is a straightforward road transfer down Interstate 15.
  • Check-in age: confirm the minimum age when booking.
  • Fees: ask whether a resort fee is added and what it covers.

Being at the southern edge of the valley keeps things quieter, while the Strip remains a short drive north. Upper floors look back across the valley toward the city lights.

How this list was put together

Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel is owned by the Lower Sioux Indian Community, the publisher of this guide. Put simply, the first card is ours: ownership alone earns it the lead position, while the order from two to ten comes from what our editors judged about each stay. Please don't read position one as an impartial finding.

For places two to ten, picture a traveller who skips the casino entirely. What does that person get? We compared the rooms, the pool or spa, how varied the restaurants are, the scenery outside, and the trip in from the closest useful airport. Hotels that set out fees and age rules on their own sites earned extra credit.

Details were drawn from official hotel websites and public records. Room totals, rates and opening dates are missing on purpose wherever we lacked certainty. Policies shift, so treat every line here as a prompt to confirm with the hotel.

On money: certain outbound links include referral codes, and a reservation made through one can pay the guide a fee that you never see on your bill. Fees play no role in ordering places two to ten. More on the affiliate disclosure page.

Before you book: common questions

Which months suit each place?

Seasons pull in opposite directions on this list. Minnesota and Indiana shine from May into early October and turn icy in midwinter. The Nevada desert flips that: punishing heat in July, soft sunshine from November to April. Coos Bay stays cool and breezy whatever the month, and St. Louis summers run sticky.

Getting in from the airport

Each card names a sensible arrival airport. Around Las Vegas, a cab or ride-hail car is the norm. Morton, Coos Bay and Anderson really call for a rental car. Shuttle services come and go, so put that question to the hotel for your exact dates.

Do hotels set a check-in age?

Rules differ by property. Plenty of casino-resort hotels set 21 as the lower limit for the name on the reservation, while others take guests from 18. A group of young adults should get the rule in writing before paying.

Could the bill end up higher than the nightly rate?

Quite possibly. Look out for a daily resort fee, a parking charge or a hold on your card. Ask what the quoted figure covers and read the final total on the payment screen.

Is this a good list for families?

Several of these hotels suit children well, though pools, show venues and some lounges can carry age rules. Ask the front desk which spaces are adults-only before you settle on dates.

Do you take bookings?

No rooms are sold here and no money changes hands with us. Press “Check availability” and you land on the hotel's official site, where you deal with the property directly.

Why is the Morton resort at number one?

Because the guide's publisher owns it. The Community behind these pages is the resort's owner, and we say so rather than dress the lead position up as a neutral pick.
